Clinical Supervision to Associates (LMFTs and LPCs)
My approach to therapy is one that is client-centered and collaborative. While I am versed in many modalities of MFT treatments, I primarily work from a background that leans heavily into Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as Humanistic-Existential Therapy and Narrative techniques. My perspective is that humans are inherently relational beings and those relationships are ultimately maintained or dissolved by underlying emotional inner-workings. In our time together, we will work to name those emotions and identify what those emotions are attempting to direct us towards. Even when working with only one individual in session, I’m ever-conscious of the fact that that person, like all of us, is a member of multiple systems and thereby influences and is influenced by others. The relational component of our work is essential to understanding how though at times one can feel disconnected, nothing exists in isolation. That’s why I believe in the immense value of welcoming partners in intimate relationships, close friends, and families into session together to identify what is and isn’t working in the system. Therapy often includes uncovering things that were previously unknown or are either uncomfortable to face or challenging to reconcile. Stepping into the unknown can be an intimidating endeavor, but only by going through - not around - can one truly step into acceptance. Acceptance of who you were, who you are, and who you can be. This requires one to look within. One must go within to EMERGE.
